I obtained a biological sciences degree in Physiology and Nutrition in 1995. I qualified as a midwife in 2000 and I am a registered working midwife in Devon. I contributed a chapter to the book “Your Birth Year” published by the NCT in 2004, and have had two articles about birth published in midwifery journals. I began training to teach pregnancy and post-natal yoga in 2004 and became an Associate of the Active Birth centre in London 2007 where I taught pregnancy yoga. I trained with Peter Walker to teach baby massage classes (2001). I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists (since 1996) and specialise in maternity reflexology. I am also embarking on a training to become a counsellor.
I consider birth a rite of passage into motherhood and I am passionate women are empowered and have the best possible experience. I support women’s informed choices in childbirth and believe babies need welcoming at birth with sensitivity and gentleness giving them an optimum start in life.
I am married with two children. I believe all aspects of life and parenting are much easier if a person commits to giving a little time on a regular basis to look after their health. I think yoga and reflexology are great ways to “fill yourself up” and experience increased wellbeing and so more energy for yourself and to nurture your family.
